Mary Thumaty

Mary Thumaty has ten years of experience and is and is currently the Traffic Engineering Division Manager at Southeastern Engineering, a DBE firm. She graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s from Georgia Tech in Civil Engineering. She has worked substantially at the Transportation Management Center for the Georgia Department of Transportation full time for over five years, when she transitioned to working in more traditional traffic studies and then to working in signal timing in which Mary utilized real time active traffic management on several key corridors. Mary also leads the research and innovation team for the Statewide Traffic Incident Management Services contract for GDOT. Because of her work in ITS, operations, signal timing, traffic studies and ability to connect with people, Mary’s diverse background allows her to coordinate with stakeholders, provide innovative solutions, and lead a strong team. In this time Mary has been involved in several professional organizations including ITE, ACEC, and ITSGA. In ITSGA Mary has been regularly involved and has assisted on several committees including the social, outreach, and membership committee and wants to bring her leadership and ideas to her future role as an ITSGA board member.
