The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation’s Traffic Engineering and Planning Division’s responsibilities include ensuring a safe and efficient transportation system for Gwinnett County by directing and coordinating all aspects of development and maintenance of short, intermediate and long-range transportation plans for the county. The division also monitors existing conditions, maintains traffic volume and traffic accident data bases, including analyses, reports and recommendations for corrective measures. It is also responsible for developing and managing a residential speed control program. The division maintains over 700 signals, 170 flashers, over 200 miles of fiber optic communications cable, 207 CCTV cameras and the operation of the Traffic Control Center.
