Intelligent Transportation Society of Georgia Announces 2024 Best of ITS Awards Winners
ATLANTA (November 13, 2024) – The Intelligent Transportation Society of Georgia (ITS Georgia) today announced the winners of the 2024 Best of ITS Awards.
“Every year, ITS Georgia takes pride in recognizing the outstanding people, projects and organizations that make our state a leader in the development, deployment, and operation of intelligent transportation systems,” said Thomas J. Glueckert, President of ITS Georgia. “This year, we’re honored to be able to recognize the people and agencies who have contributed so much to our industry this past year. Congratulations to all our winners.”
The 2024 Best of ITS Award Winners are:
- 2024 Innovation: Outside the Construction Box Award – Presented To: Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners – Ghost Intersections on SR 141
- 2024 ITS Small Project of Significance Award – Presented To: Georgia Department of Transportation – Wrong Way Driving Alert System
- 2024 ITS Large Project of Significance Award – Presented To: Georgia Department of Transportation – Statewide Broadband Design Build & Commercialization
- 2024 Outstanding Member Agency Contribution Award – Presented To: Gwinnett County Department of Transportation for the continued support, dedication, and leadership provided by members of the Audio-Visual Team over the last several years including organizing and maintaining equipment, the countless hours spent fine-tuning and documenting their process, and all the effort that goes into streaming and documenting our monthly meetings.
- 2024 Outstanding Individual Contribution Award – Presented To: Sharon Young of Georgia Department of Transportation
- 2024 Outstanding Individual Contribution Award – Presented To: Madison Dorminey of Georgia Department of Transportation
- 2024 Innovation: Best Use of Existing ITS Technologies Award – Presented To: Georgia Department of Transportation, District 6 / AECOM – Cartersville R/R Signal Timing Response and Blank Out Signs
- 2024 Larry R. Dreihaup Award – Presented To: John Hibbard, P.E., of Georgia Department of Transportation for a career of service and leadership in Georgia, including most recently his role as the Operations Division Director for GDOT which oversees the direction of the Office of State Maintenance, Traffic Operations, Transportation Data, and Utilities. And For pioneering the deployment of ITS technologies and programs during his years of service with GDOT and in the consulting community, that established the state of Georgia as a national ITS leader.
- 2024 President’s Award – Presented To: Steven Sheffield of Seyond for exemplifying the attributes of a dedicated board member, taking on multiple leadership roles throughout his years of service, supporting his fellow board members by participating in multiple committees, and leading efforts to improve ITS Georgia’s transparency.
